Couples/Families

Dr. Rachel Koppa has extensive experience working with couples and families. Over the last 10 years+ she has worked with couples and families struggling with everything from divorce, co-parenting, infidelity, lack of communication and domestic violence. In graduate school,  Dr. Koppa was trained from a family systems perspective and believes in helping couples and families work through their struggles in the safest and healthiest way possible.

Body Image and Eating Disorders

For years Dr. Koppa worked with both the client struggling with an eating disorder or body image struggle and their family while in treatment. Dr. Koppa worked for 2 years as a family therapist on the Inpatient Eating Disorder Unit at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. She then worked in the Intensive Outpatient Program for Pediatric Eating Disorders where she provided individual, family, and group therapy. She helped the only evidence based program (The Body Project) for prevention of eating disorders be presented to group of patients and parents to help further the research of the efficacy of the program.  Dr. Koppa has given presentations in the community to groups ranging from high school students to pediatricians related to body image and eating disorders. She has worked extensively with an extensive network of clinicians with which she can utilize and refer clients if needed (treatment centers, psychiatrists, dietitians, etc)

Childbearing Cycle Disturbances

Dr. Rachel Koppa has a heart for those struggling with complications related to the childbearing cycle (ie- infertility, miscarriage, stillbirth, postpartum depression, etc). This is meant to be “easy” and for so many women and couples it IS NOT. This causes a great deal of stress, anxiety and depression. So often those struggling feel isolated and unsafe to express their worries, hurts and fears. Dr. Koppa knows this. She provides a safe place to be real and work through those feelings.
